High School & Hometown Part 1 Questions With Answer: IELTS Speaking Test

Question 1:- Where is your hometown?

Answer 1:- Well, I live in Ropar, which is a district also, and it is in the Northern part of India. My hometown is a beautiful place to live in due to its moderate weather as well as good amenities.

Answer 2:- I come from a fairly small city called Kanpur. It’s located in the northern part of the country, close to a city called Lucknow. You may have heard of Lucknow. It’s a small city with a really nice and friendly population.

Question 2:- How often do you visit your hometown?

Answer 1:- Well, I visit my hometown once a week. Although I live there, I hardly get a chance to roam around. So whenever I visit, I meet many people and enjoy my day.

Answer 2:- I don’t live there anymore, and it’s, I mean, it’s been quite some time since I have visited there. The last time I was, there was like two years back during the winter break as I am occupied right now, and I am working so you hardly get any time to visit your home town But I’d love to visit sometime soon.

Question 3:- How many people live in your hometown?

Answer 1:- Well, I am not sure, but around 2000 people live in my hometown, and many live on the outskirt of the city. So I can say above 5000 people live there.

Answer 2:- I’m not sure how many people exactly live in Kanpur, but I can say it’s a tier 2 city and certainly the population is into crores or millions because it’s also a student Hub and many famous institutions like IIT Kanpur is located and many students from across the state Uttar Pradesh they come down to Lucknow or Kanpur for the studies and even for work purpose so I mean it’s a big city in that case.

Question 4:- What is your hometown famous for?

Answer 1:- Well, my hometown is famous for its historical background, Sikh shrines, Museums, libraries and multiplexes.

Answer 2:- Kanpur is really famous for its food and leather. We have the best quality leather footwear that is produced in the country and exported outside as well. Kanpur is very famous for the river Ganga and the profusion of wildflowers that have grown along its bank people also love Kanpur for the parks that are there, and we would often go for the morning works to Moti Jheel, which is one of the most renowned parks in the city.

Question 5:- What’s the oldest part of your hometown?

Answer 1:- Indus civilization is the oldest part of my hometown, and people all around the place visit those places and enhance their knowledge.

Answer 2:- I think the oldest part of the city is the river Ganga and the Ganga barrage, as people call it. It’s the oldest, and it’s been there for centuries, and that’s what keeps the whole city pure, and many people during the holy month of Shravan or during Mahashivratri come and take a holy dip in the river Ganga.

Question 6:- Who was your favourite teacher in high school?

Answer 1:- Ms Neha Arora was my favourite teacher, and she taught me English. Her way of teaching was excellent, and she also helped me in developing good reading skills.

Answer 2:- My favourite teacher in high school was my French teacher, and I still remember I was keenly interested in learning a foreign language. French was one of the two options that were being offered in my college, and the other one was Spanish. I thought I’d go for French and I remember I met with an accident. I wasn’t able to attend college for about six months, and when I did come to college after that, I went to my french teacher and told her I wasn’t there and I missed out on the modules, and she was kind enough to take me over again and provide me some extra time after the college and help me during my exams as well she was really nice.

Question 7:- What was your favourite subject in high school?

Answer 1:- English was my favourite subject in high school because I had a great flair for learning foreign languages. I also learnt how to take part in debate and declamation, as well as to be a good communicator.

Answer 2:- My favourite subject in high school was accountancy, bookkeeping and accountancy. I like accounts because it was very scoring, and I am quite good with numbers and statistics, so I was able to do well if I get the logic correct, if you’re able to understand debit, what comes in credit, what goes out and if you are able to apply that then it’s quite fun solving accounting problems.

Question 8:- Do you still remember what happened on your first day of high school?

Answer 1:- Well, my first day was very terrible as I cried a lot and it was told to me by my mother. I had no friends at that time. I didn’t even take my lunch and was told that I had a fever and was reluctant to go to school.

Answer 2:- Yes, I definitely do. I remember the first day of high school I was kicked out of class because I was chatting with my friend. I remember my first friend, she’s still my best friend today in his become a chartered accountant, and we both were kicked out, and we then went to the playroom. We are playing carrom access. My first day at high school was very exciting and adventurous, and I hope I can you know, probably go back there and play some nice games in the same room.

Question 9:- Do you still keep in touch with your friends from high school?

Answer 1:- Not with many students, but I had my best friend who is still in my contact and is living abroad. We hardly have a conversation, and if it happens, we talk at weekends.

Answer 2:- Yes, the friends you make in high school are the friends that are probably going to stay with you for the rest of your life, and the two best friends I made are Sahil And surely we are very much together, and we make an effort to make once or twice a month, and I know we are busy with our personal lives but yeah we are in touch through social media and we definitely catch up, and we like chatting about each other’s life whenever we get a chance.

Question 10:- Do you miss your life in high school?

Answer 1:- Yes, I miss my school life more because I learnt various skills and developed good bonding with my teachers, who are still in contact. Really that period was amazing.

Answer 2:- Yeah, I mean, school life is certainly a lot of fun. You don’t have any pressure, and you don’t have to go and make a living. You don’t have to think about anything about your future. You are just relaxing and enjoying your time in college. It’s nice that you know you can go around, you can play with your friends, and you can have fun. I mean, I’m happy right now; it’s not that time, and I am enjoying that much, but as you grow old, you grow mature, and you realise that there’s a time for everything and time for goofing around and snooping around was during high school days, and I am at peace now, and that’s about It.
