In various working areas, digital communication is being adopted frequently compared to the physical meetings. In this essay I am going to discuss about the pros and cons of internet virtual communication over face to face meetings.

On one hand, considering the usage of online communication while at work is advantageous in such a way that since we are in the period of pandemic, this option will always limit the spread of infection mainly the novel corona virus. Protecting every member at the working station safe for example, at my work place departmental meeting are being held and attendance is via zoom to prevent congestion. Since all in all everyone who is connected will hear the message being passed during the meeting.

Conversely, virtual communication vis internet has its own demerits in that there is always on and off internet network especially in our developing countries. Additionally, this mode of communication is quite costly mainly to the natives within under developed nations like Uganda rarely could you find a work place opting online meetings due to high costs of living. These kinds of meeting hinder people’s attention during the meeting. For instance, recent studies reveal that the attendance of members on zoom meetings is far less compared to the face to face communication while at the working station.

As I sum up, considering the condition of the ongoing pandemic which is life threatening due to its mode of spread. Therefore, the pluses of digital communication outweigh the minuses.
