Present a written argument or case to an educated reader with no specialist knowledge of the following topic. It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children?

Sample 1 It Is Important for Children to Learn the Difference Between Right and Wrong at An Early Age

It is essential for kids to understand the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishing them is vital in order to help them learn to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. I strongly support this idea.

Firstly, it is well-known that the brain grows most during childhood. What is taught during this time remains for life. Scientists have found that the brain witnesses the most growth until six years of age. A person’s personality is strongly based on what he learns during his first six years of life. If a child is not taught the difference between right and wrong during this phase of life, then he may not be able to distinguish between what is right and wrong for his entire life. Therefore it is necessary for children to understand and be able to differentiate between correct and wrong.

Children remember something for a long time when they are either punished or appreciated. Due to the fear of punishment, children do not try to repeat them and try to behave such that they should again be praised. However, sometimes they may repeat the mistakes, but when they are again punished, they remember it for a more extended period of time. Giving them mild punishment so that they can remember their mistakes is absolutely necessary.

Finally, mild punishment helps to improve the children’s personality and majorly decides their future behaviour. All over the World, more than half of the criminals are those who are orphans from birth or who have not got good parenting. Good parenting refers to abusive parents and those who ignore their children, who are always busy with work and leave their children alone. It is seen that these people were never taught the difference between correct and incorrect in childhood. Hence punishing kids is absolutely important.

To summarize, children should be given punishment like small house chores or reciting a few study materials to make them realize the importance of all things in life and distinguish what is correct for them and what is incorrect.

Sample 2 It Is Important for Children to Learn the Difference Between Right and Wrong at An Early Age

People have different views about whether children should learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. I believe an early start would be far more beneficial than a later one.

Firstly, teaching children from the start has a lasting impact and will shape their behaviour in public and private life. They become confident in taking deciduous. Punishment is necessary for some kinds of situations where children do not listen to parents and teachers. But those punishments should not be any physical beating a boy or girl is in no way should be used as there are far better ways of punishing a child for teaching him or her something. It should be like education from that also they should learn. Physical punishment is no longer used in most countries and can be found in small countries.

In my opinion, this form of punishment should not be used. More effective punishment could be not to allow him or them to play with his favourite toy or not to allow his or her favourite chocolate for one or two days. Sometimes if you have a very friendly relationship with your kids, if you stop talking to them for some time, they realize their mistake and make a promise not to make a mistake again. The teacher and parents should remember that the punishment’s primary purpose is to teach the child not to hurt.

To conclude, punishment is necessary to teach children good manners & distinguish good things from bad ones as early as possible.
