Research Shows that Some Activities Are Good for Health and Others Are Bad

Research shows that some activities are good for health and others are bad. Despite knowing that, millions of people engage in unhealthy activities. What is the cause of this? What can be done?

Prestigious universities in many countries recently issued a list of best practices that promote strong health, and negative attitudes should be avoided. However, the world population is increasingly unwilling to follow such advice for psychological motivations. At this point, a combination of good campaigns on the mass media and medical and psychological intervention might be suitable to modify this trend.

After the report of Good Physical Habits was published in Philadelphia in 2016, the population seemed to move in the opposite way to what doctors were stating for their well-being. In other words, they started to eat more in fast food centres, practice some physical activities once a month, and smoke and drink more than in the past. By investigating the motivations of this behaviour, the researchers found that depression caused by their economic conditions was a big factor in the equation. That year the redundancy percentage in the industry was about 40%. For this reason, people vented their bad feelings by eating, smoking and drinking more than in the past.

A possible solution to this situation might be a joint effort among the marketing campaigns on tv and on the internet and great cooperation with doctors and psychologists. Adopting this measure, in Louisiana, over 40% of the population became respondents to the Good Physical Habits report and had become capable of losing weight, eliminating smoke from their lungs and living better.

In conclusion, many can be the reasons that drive people to adopt negative attitudes towards their health. What the scientific community can do in this situation is to understand each situation and cope with their problems individually.
