Sample Answer: Some People Argue that To Make Healthy Foods Like Fruits and Vegetables More Affordable
Some people believe the government should subsidise companies that produce healthy food, like fruits and vegetables, to make their products inexpensive. At the same time, there are others who think that it is better to tax unhealthy food. By subsidies, healthy food industries would not only reduce the price but also make it more accessible to every single person regardless of their financial circumstances, whereas taxing unhealthy food may significantly reduce the incidence of lifestyle change diseases like diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
On one hand, due to subsidies, many companies will lower their price tag on vast products, and eventually, commodities might be cheaper and more available in local markets than it was before. The underlying purpose of subsidising is to aid companies in releasing goods at smaller prices but of the same quality, whereby, in the end, things will be in large quantities inside the market across the country. The real demonstration of this is I can refer to the People’s Republic of China. In the last decade, the communist authority established subsidy policies for several healthy product companies. It is the number one country with a high life expectancy globally, with the average at just below 70 years. Therefore, this escalated due to the presence of healthy food behaviours they had in past years that were influenced by the cheapest products made by local companies.
On the other hand, the increase in taxes on non-healthy food products has a positive outcome for all residents regarding general health conditions as illnesses caused by lifestyle changes like high blood pressure and sugar are likely to be diminished heavily. A considerable number of people will not be able to afford to purchase those items due to the fact that tax increases are similar to the price. For example, in my country, Tanzania, there are no inexpensive non-healthy food products as the government implemented the slogan to put down consumption of high-risk foods for lifestyle disorders like burgers and chips in which dietician added up some essential tips in their research article documented in the Pub meds that that food as the first line to lead non-communicable conditions, in other words it escalates the risk to acquire disease steeply more than 90 % as USA according to the WHO statistics a lot of lifestyle disorders like emergency high blood pressure resulted from unhealthy food.
To recapitulate, it is often argued that the government should tax unhealthy food. At the same time, some people think that subsidies should be provided to healthy food companies in order to release cheaper products. Therefore, subsidies make nutritious food more accessible while taxing unhealthy food may decelerate non-communicable disorders like hypertension and diabetes mellitus. In my opinion, I believe taxing unhealthy food might result in a positive impact on society in the coming years rather than subsidising healthy food companies, despite it being crucial to the community as the key reason for affordable healthy product materials.
