The bar graph represents the number of students who studied linguistics, Philosophy, English language and literature, history and archaeology, art and design, and communication and media studies at a UK university in 2020.
Overall, females dominated the art subjects offered at the University, with English language and literature leading with 250 students, while history and archaeology had slightly above 100 female scholars. In addition, subjects such as linguistics, English language and literature, communication, and media appeared to be students’ favourites.
English language and literature attracted the highest number of learners: 250 female students and slightly below 250 male students. Linguistics, communication, and media studies were ranked the second most loved subjects. The female scholars were nearly 250 in both subjects, while male students accounted for 200 and slightly below 200 in communication, media studies, and linguistics, respectively.
On the other hand, Philosophy, History, archaeology, art, and design were less famous subjects of study in the period. Arts and design, which was ranked third, had almost the same number of scholars, slightly above 150 males and females, respectively. Female philosophers exceeded their male counterparts by 100, which was the highest difference observed in all six areas of study. Finally, in history and archaeology, the difference in numbers was also minimal, with female students being above 100 and male students just lower than 100 in number.
