Train in the urban areas affected 10 million and 8 million people by day and night in relative terms. Nonetheless, it disturbed the same number of people at night(1 million).

Industrial noise affected a mere 1 million individuals during daytime and 25 million during sundown, whereas rural communities were free from industrial noise in either part of the day. There was a reduced number of people affected by train noise by 2 million from daytime to sunset in both regions.
