The Climograph Below Shows Average Monthly Temperatures and Rainfall

The climograph below shows average monthly temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kolkata. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.


The combined bar chart and line graph compare the monthly rainfall and changes in atmospheric heat, respectively, throughout a year of time. The measurements for rainfall are mm, and temperatures have been given in Celsius.

From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the rainfall is considerably higher during the middle months of the year while the temperatures fluctuate within a limited range at the same time.

In terms of rainfall, as we can obviously see from the bars, primarily in January, the rainfall is as lower as 10mm, and during the first five months of the year, it has gradually increased and reached ten folds in May. However, in the following month, it skyrocketed. Similarly, the peak rainfall in the year can be noticed during the months of July and June. It is around 330mm there after the rainfall takes an opposite downward trend towards the end of the year by reporting a minimum of around 5mm rainfall in December.

When moving towards the thermal changes in these months, the temperatures have been fluctuating throughout the year within a range of twenty to thirty degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is observed from March to October while as lowest as around 20 degrees Celsius of temperatures can be noticed in the first and last two months of the year.
