The Governments Should Give Each Citizen a Basic Income so That They Have Enough Money to Live On

The governments should give each citizen a basic income so that they have enough money to live on, even if they are unemployed. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

A new law that mandates minimum wage to every citizen is gaining attention all around the world. I strongly believe that this law should be applied to certain parts of society such as old age people, widows, physically handicapped etc. and not to everyone. This essay will delve into the requirement of minimum payout to every citizen of the country.

A part of society should receive government aid to meet their daily expenses, which includes people who are not able to earn, such as old age people, physically challenged, widows etc. These people should have the right to receive basic aid from the government on humanitarian grounds as they are not able to earn and meet their daily requirements. This will enable them to receive healthcare services when required during an emergency.

On the other hand, I strongly believe that these benefits should not be transferred to every citizen, especially those who are physically fit and able to earn their expenses. Monthly payouts to these people will make them dependent on the government, which may hamper their job hunting approach. Also, this will create employee shortages in a low-income jobs where those people who are receiving higher payouts from the government would not be interested.

To conclude this, I favour the minimum wages law for a certain part of society and not for every citizen. Government should shortlist the citizen for financial aid based on factors that may impact their ability to compete and earn their basic expenses.
