The table below shows the figures for imprisonment in five countries between 1930 and 1980. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.


The bar graph illustrates the data from five different countries(Australia, Canada, Newzealand, the United States, and Great Britain) from 1930 to 1980.

Overall, it is clearly seen that in the graph, Canada and United States had the highest numbers of prisoners while Great Britain had least count of incarceration.

Initially, Canada had 120 thousand prisoners in 1930, which was the highest number among the five countries. From 1940 to 1950 number of incarceration almost remained the same. After 30 years, it reached about 80 thousand .in Australia, and Newzland’s figure for prisoners remained the same in 1930.

After a decade, imprisonment decreased in Newzealand and in the final year, after fluctuations, it reached around 80 thousand. Australia saw a downward trend in the number of incarceration in the next two decades; moreover, from 1960 to 1970, count of prisoners was a little bit increased, and at last, it was seen as approximately 40 thousand.

Furthermore, the majority of imprisonment increased in the United States, but in Australia, confinement declined and almost remained constant till the final year .in 1980, it was noted as around 140 thousand. In the United States, the vast majority of people are prisoners as compared to the other four countries.
