The two bar charts illustrate the number of children who learned to speak foreign languages such as French, German, and Spanish in modern schools between 1984 and 2007.
Overall, at the beginning of the period, most of the students generally spoke French and preferred German and Spanish. However, the last time, pupils preferred all three popular languages.

French was the common language studied by just 50% in 1984 and declined by almost half per cent in 2007. Students who learned the German language in school had one-fifth of the percentage in the starting time; however, in the end, the numbers decreased to around 5 %. One striking feature was the Spanish language least learned by 5% in 1984 and experienced a more than doubled percentage in the year 2007.
