Young People Use Computers and Mobile Phones to Communicate

Young People Use Computers and Mobile Phones to Communicate, Which Hurts Their Reading and Writing Skills. To What Extent Do You Agree or Disagree? Give Reasons for Your Answer and Include Relevant Examples from Your Knowledge or Experience.

It is often argued that using computers and mobile phones to communicate affects young people’s reading and writing skills. Although I agree that computers and mobile phones play a prominent role in today’s technology, I think it is in our hands to benefit from their advantages.

On the one hand, youth have many options and tools to improve their skills by using computers and mobile phones. Several applications are available to explore and enhance reading and writing skills. For instance, everyone can correct their mistakes while writing by using AI tools. In addition, people who are interested in reading can read any book of their choice through e-books, which are available on various websites. That’s why computers and mobile phones have enough resources to improve our skills.

On the other hand, the younger generation is losing their reading and writing skills because of social media and some applications, which negatively impact their skills. For example, auto-correct and auto-fill features in texting applications make people forget spellings. Furthermore, we are wasting our time scrolling through social media applications instead of reading newspapers and books. So, computers and mobile phones have an adverse effect on youth.

To conclude, though I agree that computers and mobile phones promote our skills by providing several resources, I think they negatively impact the reading and writing skills of the younger generation, particularly those who do not know how to benefit from the available technology.
