Hobbies and Free Time: IELTS Speaking Introduction Questions With Answers
Question 1:- What do you like to do in your free time?
Actually, I don’t get much free time recently because of work ๐ผ. However, when I do, I usually watch movies ๐ฌ or play video games ๐ฎ, such as FIFA โฝ specifically.
Question 2:- How did you become interested in your hobby?
I remember the day my brother came back from boarding school ๐ซ. He took me to a gaming centre called Mlimani City ๐ข, where we played a football video game ๐โฝ. I was defeated because it was my first time, but I felt very excited. That was the day I fell in love with gaming. After he returned to school, I continued visiting the centre to play with our younger brother. Over time, gaming became part of my life, and now I can’t even go a week without it.
Question 3:- Are there any new activities you would like to try?
My current routine is tight ๐ , but I hope one day I will have time to practice hiking ๐ฃ. I’ve always dreamed of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro ๐, the highest mountain in East Africa.
Question 4:- Do you prefer indoor or outdoor activities? Why?
Though I’m not antisocial ๐ค, I prefer staying indoors ๐ . As I mentioned earlier, I’m a gaming person, so I spend most of my time playing football games online. Sometimes I do go outside, but not often, because it’s too hot ๐ก in my country, and staying inside is better for my skin health.
Question 5:- How much time do you spend on your hobbies each week?
I usually get free time on weekends ๐, approximately six hours in total. During weekends, I clean my house ๐งน, wash clothes ๐, and do the dishes ๐งต. Unfortunately, these hours are not enough for my hobbies ๐ฎ, so I think I should rearrange my routine to have more leisure time.
Question 6:- Do you think hobbies should be relaxing or challenging?
Absolutely! Hobbies ๐ฎ should be relaxing. They help reduce anxiety caused by daily work or studies ๐ผ. If hobbies become too challenging, they lose their purpose. Relaxing activities increase motivation and energy, making us more productive when we return to work ๐ช.
Question 7:- Is there a hobby you used to enjoy but no longer do?
During the COVID-19 pandemic ๐, I was on a six-month lockdown and spent most of my time watching movies ๐ฌ and series. Recently, though, I’ve become less enthusiastic. I only watch movies when friends recommend something useful for daily life. Nowadays, I just watch occasionally, unlike in the past when I was a die-hard fan.
