Question 1:- Do you work or study?
Two months ago, I was a medical student, but now I am working as a junior doctor in a regional government hospital in my home city, Dar es Salaam. Although I love being a government recruiter, I cannot forget how happy I was during my school years, especially those moments spent with my friends. Now, we can’t get together because everyone is on the other side, fighting for a career and a future.
Question 2:- What is your major? Or what was your major?
In the first few months of my university journey, I wanted to drop out. Still, after long hours of thinking, I decided to continue my major as MBBS, so I tried my level best during those moments until I passed my final exam and graduated in June this year.
Question 3:- Why did you choose that major?
The place I grew up in, there was a doctor nearby, so every family around that area gave respect that doctor, that was the moment I decided when I get older I want to be a doctor so that every neighbor of mine will show respect to me and my family in the end my parents will be proud.
Question 4:- What is the most difficult part of studying that subject?
To be honest, the whole journey was arduous, but I can consider the most challenging part was during clinical rotations, as we were supposed to convey the knowledge we learned from classes to actual scenarios, so that was my heartbreak period.
Question 5:- Do you plan to use the subject you are studying in the future?
Absolutely yes, I will use the knowledge and the subjects in future, as I have a dream to become an Emergency medicine specialist, so I will have to get under the same roof as I was in during medical school.
Question 6:- Do you play any sports?
During my free time in medical school, I used to go to the sports centre to play soccer with my friends however, I still go to sports center to play but not frequently as I was in med school because now I’m working so I don’t have many leisure time as I used to have in schooling time.
Question 7:- Do you watch sports on TV?
I remember my last time watching TV was when I was in senior high school. Still, after getting admission to medical school, I have never used TV to watch any program. However, I do watch other programs, such as Olympic tournaments, through my smartphone. I enjoy it because I can watch anytime, even during my work time, when there are no patients in my department. I switch on my mobile phone and enjoy the world.
Question 8:- What is the most popular sport in your country?
Definitely, football is one of the famous sports in my home country, as most teenagers dream of playing in Europe as a professional footballer, so every street there is a local playground so that everyone can train and get the chance to pursue their career as an experienced player.
Question 9:- How do people in your country stay fit?
For the last decade, many older people didn’t stay fit because they didn’t exercise regularly, as they needed to stay healthy. Still, in recent years, a considerable number of elders have routinely exercised, such as through long-distance walking, and others have participated in short-distance marathons, which has increased life expectancy as the number of age-related illnesses has declined.
Question 10:- Is it important for children to play sports?
It’s imperative for the younger generation to participate in sports activities, not only will it improve their health status, but also nowadays sports have become a career opportunity. Western African countries have a higher number of international players in the Olympics this year compared to other zones in Africa because they encouraged their children to participate in sports back then, and now the world has seen the rewards.
