One of Your Pen Pals Will Shortly Be Visiting Your City IELTS Exam

One of your pen pals will shortly be visiting your city. For some reason, you can not manage to meet him at the airport on time. Write a letter asking him to wait for you at the airport and tell him how to identify you.

Hi John,

I’m writing to let you know that I’ll be a bit late to pick you up from the aerodrome on coming Saturday.

I gives me immense pleasure and hope that I’d able to see you in person soon. It’s a mixed feeling of enthusiasm besides guilt since I’d be late for pickup. Coincidently, my grandmother’s eye checkup appointment is overlapping at the same time and hence I’ll come to the airport straight from the hospital.

I’m sure that you’ll understand the situation and manage to hang on at the airport for a while. Fortunately, at the airport lobby, there’s a book shop and I know that you love reading, probably you can check out some books there. I will see you there near the front desk, you can easily identify me as I’ll be wearing a red t-shirt with “New York” written on it.

I’m full of excitement and can’t wait to see you this weekend.

Best regards,
Rajesh Thakkar

Dear Mary,

I am very much looking forward to your visit to my city. Just think: after all these years of writing to each other, we will finally have the chance to meet! However, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to meet you at the airport as soon as you arrive.

The reason is that your flight will arrive early in the morning, and the quickest time I can get to the airport will be about an hour after you land. Please wait for me in the arrival lounge. You should be able to have breakfast there while you wait.

By the way, as we have never met I must tell you how to recognize me: I am of medium height and have a small mustache. In addition, I will be carrying a copy of the morning newspaper tucked under my left arm.

Looking forward to our first meeting.

Yours sincerely,

Harry
