Nowadays, sport has become one of the most attractive event across the globe. Some individuals believe that organising international sporting events is profitable for the country. The question, therefore, is whether the advantages of organising international sporting events outweigh the disadvantages. The benefits of organising a global sporting event outweigh the inconveniences. The Reason is that, as sporting events generate income for the country, they also cause high-level poverty whenever the organiser is a loser in the competition.

On the one hand, sports activities are highly profitable for governments that organise international sporting events, as they drive other activities that generate significant income. For example, in a country that organises and hosts international football games, many activities take place around stadiums, including hotels, stores, and snack stands. Even small-scale activities are developed by local populations, such as call boxes, Mobile Money and Orange Money transfers, and clothing and shoe distributions to cités, to name a few. Thèse fews activities generate income for the local population. In addition, from these activities, the government can collect taxes and fulfil other government obligations.

On the other hand, they used to borrow a lot of money to organise the sporting event successfully. Then, if he loses the competition, they will not be able to repay the borrowed package. Consequently, government taxes will increase, thereby causing poverty to local populations. Cameroon is the best example in this case. After thé loose the African football competition organised in 2018, taxes just increased, and to date, the living situation of Cameroonians has worsened.
