The Road in Front of Your House Got Damaged a Long Ago and Nothing Has Been Done About It (1)

The road in front of your house got damaged a long ago and nothing has been done about it. Write a letter to the municipal authority complaining about the damaged road. In your letter:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I trust you are well and keeping safe. My name is Suwaida Abdul Aziz, one of the residents of your municipality. My house address is Asawasi J132, Nii Adjetey Kanton STRT. I am a teacher by profession and have been residing in this municipality for the past 10years.

I am writing you this letter to draw your attention to the bad roads on the Nii Adjetey Street leading to the WAEC main road. As we all know, it is quite a busy road because it links to three neighbouring towns with one being the central market of the municipal. As a result, a lot of motorists use that road, but unfortunately, it is currently in a very deplorable state. The road lost its smooth and paved surface as a result of the June 3rd, 2015 heavy downpour, which resulted in floods and fire explosions from the nearby fuelling station. After this deadly incident which resulted in the loss of many lives and properties, the Nii Adjetey Kanton Street also had its fair share of the negative impact such as:

Deep potholes came to bear as a result of the floods. This causes huge traffic on the stretch as motorists now have to slow down whilst using that road. This affects productivity because a lot of time is spent whilst commuting to work. Another worrying issue is the number of motor accidents on the road because of the deep potholes. Just last week, a truck moving on that stretch ran over some school kids returning home from school, which resulted in the instant death of 4 of them, with two currently being in a fatal condition.

Again, most of the street lights by the road went off and have not been fixed up till now. This has caused a rise in the number of robbery cases in the neighbourhood. The residents no longer feel safe because the road is almost in complete darkness in the evening, which has made it a comfortable breeding space for criminals.

Lastly, the drainages beside the road have become so narrow, which results in spillage of wastewater on the road. The road most often looks like it has rained even in dry seasons. There is a rise in the recorded cases of cholera and malaria in the neighbourhood because these wastewaters are in the open and a breeding ground for mosquitoes and germs.

Please, I am seeking your outfit to kindly review the above matter and provide us with a lasting solution. In the meantime and as a matter of urgency, I will suggest you first look into fixing the street lights. Having them fixed now will ward off criminals and decrease the number of road accidents on that stretch as motorists will be able to manoeuvre around.

Furthermore, I suggest you open Central Mosque Street for motorists to use as an alternative road whilst repair works are done on the Nii Adjetey Kanton one.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,
