Today, More and More People Prefer to Communicate Online Rather than Face-To-Face. What Are the Reasons for This? Is This a Positive or Negative Development? Could you just write your answer and Include Relevant Examples from Your Knowledge or Experience?
Nowadays, technological innovations have contributed to the changes in human behaviour. Recent studies have shown that about 80% of the World’s population communicates through social media and e-mail rather than in person. The question arises as to why these communication means are beautiful and whether they are profitable for us. In the former, many people prefer online communication because it is fast and inexpensive. In the latter, these communication skills are not beneficial to us, as they do not help us grow our personal communication skills.
Online communication is fast and inexpensive. With online communication, one can communicate as far as possible without travelling or paying any additional fees. In those days, for example, sending information from Douala to Yaounde was possible only by letter via Campost. First, it took a long time for the letter to reach the destination; second, the postage fees. But today, with online communications, this has become very easy. Through WhatsApp, for example, one can send a message even abroad in just a second. It’s possible not only to send a message but also to make a video call and discuss with anyone, as if you were meeting in person. Whether social media or e-mails, all these online communications have made exchanging information very easy, time-consuming, and very cheap.
The online communication skills we have developed today, due to technological advancements, for instance, are the origin of the destruction of our personal communicative skills. Today, most people are unable to express themselves in front of others. This has many inconvénients both at home and at the workplace. Many of our children, for example, cannot write a simple letter, as they are used to good online writing. As Part of formal writing, many of them are unable to express themselves while being in public. This explains why many people today fail to pass job interview processes.
In summary, this essay aims to explain why online communication is beautiful today and whether it is really beneficial for us. Based on the above discussions, it is clear that these communication methods are of particular interest because they are swift and inexpensive. Although they have advantages, they are not profitable for us because they do not allow us to develop our personal communicative skills.
