Sample 1: You Are a Student at A Language School in New Zealand
Dear Principal Henderson,
My name is Ranjodh Singh (Student ID: 45B-ENG), and I am a student currently enrolled in your intensive Business English course. I am writing to express my profound disappointment and grave concern regarding the recent notification that the summer work placement programme has been abruptly cancelled.
When I was evaluating language schools, the prospect of this work placement was the single most decisive factor in my decision to enrol at your institution. It was advertised as an integral and capstone component of the curriculum. For many international students, myself included, this programme represented an invaluable opportunity to apply our developing language skills in a professional, real-world New Zealand business context. This practical experience is not merely an ‘add-on’; it is the critical bridge between theoretical classroom learning and tangible, career-enhancing competence.
The sudden cancellation of this programme has, therefore, caused considerable distress among the student body. I am deeply concerned that the qualification I will receive is now fundamentally devalued. My primary fear is that I will return to my home country without the specific, practical experience that was explicitly promised in the course prospectus, which will be detrimental to my future career prospects. Furthermore, given the substantial tuition fees associated with this course, the removal of its most significant practical element without consultation or adequate replacement feels entirely inequitable.
Given the severity of this issue, I strongly urge you to reconsider this decision. If, however, the cancellation is truly irreversible, I must insist that the school takes immediate and proactive measures. This should involve the school actively liaising with its corporate partners to secure alternative, comparable work placements for all affected students. Should this prove unfeasible, a structured, project-based consultancy with local firms or, as a final resort, a significant partial refund of the course fees, would be the only acceptable outcomes to compensate for this breach of the course agreement.
I look forward to your prompt and satisfactory resolution of this urgent matter.
Yours sincerely,
Ranjodh Singh

Sample 2: You Are a Student at A Language School in New Zealand
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my concern about the changes to my training program.
In fact, I am a level 500 student at the English language school of New Zealand, studying Business English. One of my major and most interesting programmes is the summer work placement programme, which gives students the opportunity to collaborate with companies and even work with some of them immediately after graduation. Unfortunately, last week I learnt that the programme had been cancelled. This decision is not really comfortable for me, since without that major programme, I will no longer be able to achieve my goals.
Given that I have already paid the full amount of my school fees, I would be grateful if you could recommend that particular program at the institution in partnership with the New Zealand Business English Centre.
To ensure a positive response, I look forward to hearing from you.
With kind regards.
