You Have Been Offered a Job, Asking You to Start Next Week (1)

You have been offered a job, asking you to start next week. You want the job very much but, because of a previous commitment, you want to delay the start for another two weeks. Write to the Manager, accepting the job, but explaining your situation and asking for the change to your start date.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you to thank you for giving me a chance to work in your organisation. Simultaneously, I request you to allow me to join my position two weeks later. Being currently employed, I have some duties to perform.

Furthermore, being employed in your company is a proud moment for me; and I have been trying for many months to attain this vacancy. Although I have been given the same designation as a senior representative of a company, the salary and proximity to my residential area is a great advantage for me. It would give me an opportunity to work overtime for the success of a company.

On the face of it, I have no issue with joining at the moment; however, being a responsible employee, I need to hand over the whole work to someone who is capable of doing it. Moreover, as your company is at a large distance; therefore, I need some time for relocating. It would be great if you could permit me to join after 14 days.

Would you be kind enough to allow me to start my job on 11 December 2021; instead of joining it on 28 November 2021. In this way, I would have no need to take time off, and I would be able to work effectively. If it is convenient for you by considering my case, I would be able to join it on the suggested date.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Faithfully,
