You Normally Go Shopping in The Area Where You Live GT Writing Task 1

You normally go shopping in the area where you live. However, you think some of the facilities for shoppers could be improved. Write a letter to your local newspaper. In your letter:

Dear Editor,

Greetings to you. My name is Mrs Martha Maingi, and I am a resident of Buru Buru estate, Phase 2, in Nairobi. I am a long-time, frequent shopper at Greens shoppers mall, right in the middle of Buru Buru Shopping Centre, about 2 miles from my residence. The mall offers comprehensive services and supplies to suit residents’ various needs and tastes, including chemists, a gym, supermarkets and grocery stores. What I like about this mall is that the amenities provided are excellent, the staff are friendly, and, recently, the mall converted to a 24-hour shopping experience, which is quite convenient for my tight working schedule.

However, I have noted with concern that some of the facilities in this mall need improvement. The building is run-down, very dull and requires some urgent paint touch-ups. In addition, the markings on the parking area are no longer visible, and it is challenging to distinguish between one parking slot and another. Moreover, the toilets are always smelling and need to be cleaned more thoroughly. Addressing this through the Daily Nation, the largest Newspaper in Nairobi town, will significantly help restore this shopping Centre’s lost glory.

I suggest the City council have the mall revamped with fresh paint, including repainting the parking lot and employing extra staff to ensure the toilets are washed and sparkling on a 24-hour scale.

I am looking forward to your quick action on this.

Yours Sincerely,
