Sample Answer: You Recently Received a Letter from A Friend Asking for Advice About Whether to Go to College or To Try to Get a Job

Dear Kuljeet,

I hope you are doing well. I was really glad to receive your letter and to know that you are thinking seriously about your future. You asked whether you should go to college or start working, and honestly, I feel that getting a job would be a better option for you at this stage.

Firstly, I don’t think you would enjoy college life much. As far as I know, you prefer practical learning rather than theoretical studies. College often involves long lectures, assignments, and exams, which might feel boring and stressful for you. Also, it requires a lot of patience and academic interest, which may not align with your personality or strengths.

On the other hand, starting a job now would give you real-world experience and help you become financially independent. You would learn important skills like communication, time management, and responsibility. Moreover, earning your own money will boost your confidence and allow you to support yourself and even your family.

In terms of suitable jobs, I think you could do well in roles that involve interaction and practical work. For example, you might consider working in sales, customer service, or even starting as a trainee in a company. You also have good technical skills, so jobs in basic IT support or digital marketing could be a great fit for you.

Overall, I strongly believe that gaining work experience now will benefit you more than going to college. You can always pursue studies later if you feel the need.

Take care and let me know what you decide.

Warm regards,
Manpreet Singh
