Dear Sameer,

I’m writing to you with some rather unfortunate news regarding our plan to see the new historical drama this Friday evening. I’m incredibly sorry, but it looks like I will have to pull out at the last minute.

A situation has arisen at work that is impossible for me to get out of. A major client from our UK office is flying in unexpectedly, and my boss has just informed me that I am required to attend a welcome dinner for them on Friday night. As you can imagine, this is not something I can refuse, and I am genuinely gutted to be missing our much-awaited movie night.

However, not wanting you to miss the premiere, I have a suggestion. I was speaking to my cousin, Arjun, and he mentioned that he was also very keen to see this film. He is free on Friday and would be more than happy to take my ticket and join you instead.

I immediately thought of Arjun as he is a massive history enthusiast and, much like you, appreciates films with strong character development and historical accuracy. I am quite certain that you two would have a brilliant time dissecting the plot and performances. He’s also very easy-going and has a great sense of humour, so I’m confident you would get on splendidly. I’ve given him your number, and he will likely send you a message to confirm the plan.

Once again, my sincerest apologies for this last-minute change. We absolutely must reschedule for another time very soon.
