Sample Answer of Describe a Time when You Needed to Search for Information

Thanks to technology for providing us with an opportunity to explore millions of things in the comfort of our homes. My life’s many decisions were made only after researching thoroughly what I must know.

The most recent search I have made for us is on the course contents and fee details of one of the colleges located in Canada. I searched for it about a month back, to be exact. As I was looking to enter Canada as a student, I needed a course that best suited me. And as usual, google instantly came to my mind. After spending good days zeroing in on a college and course, I was not able to get the course contents and the fees for each semester. Both are quite important as that is the base for me to prepare in advance mentally and financially.

I have gone through many private websites to know where I can find those details. To be honest, most of the websites look promising and reliable on the google front page, but when we get into it, it just throws a range of advertisements alone. Finally found à genuine one and got to know what I was supposed to do. As I said before, that information helped me to approach my study agents and banks with a clear mind.

Speaking part 3 Describe a Time when You Needed to Search for Information

Question 1. Is online information reliable?

Answer – Actually, it depends on from what source you are getting that information. For example, if it is a government or college website, you can trust it. We also should be aware of bogus websites, and the website address gives you an idea of whether it is genuine or not.

Question 2. Do you think there is too much information online?

Answer – Yes, as one can set up their own websites quite easily nowadays, online throws us ample information though some are absolute piffle. We should know where we can put our minds on. That disparity will save one’s precious time and distance them from being a victim of fraud-related fraud-related activities.

Question 3. Is the information provided on television helpful?

Answer – Yes, to some extent, but it cannot be compared with what the Internet gives us. Television plays the role of an entertainment destination rather than giving useful information.

Question 4. What are some other ways of searching for information?

Answer – The other best ways definitely include a friends circle. They are the most reliable source, and as each one stays in different locations, they have an opportunity to meet a range of people, which in turn gives them more knowledge in all aspects. They simple disseminate what they know when we enquire about it.

Question 5. What kind of information do people trust more?

Answer – Anything that leads to a financial gain immediately attracts people towards it, and they blindly put their hard-earned money, thinking of getting higher returns in a short time. Nevertheless, to my knowledge, almost 90% of those fancy statements do not fulfil the promises made at the end of the day.

Question 6. How can people search for information now?

Answer – The most popular among people till now is the Internet and their surroundings. We have the cushion of having the Internet handy with the mobile phone. It helps us to reach the destination where we planned to, giving information about the good restaurants nearby and whatnot. It has all you require.

Question 7. What information can people get from television?

Answer – When it comes to television, the primary source to get the knowledge is the news and education-related channels though the latter are not so popular in my country. Older people aged 50 and above are ardent followers of news channels.

Question 8. Do you think libraries are still important in the digital age?

Answer – You cannot replace some real gems. Nothing can be compared to physical reading in a calm environment. Although people gradually prefer e-versions, we cannot simply put the existing ones in jeopardy, which was followed as a tradition for years.

Question 9. Does the development of the Internet have any impact on disadvantaged people?

Answer – As even disadvantaged people can access what normal one uses, the Internet gives a ray of hope to them. It makes them be on the ball all the time. They literally can feel that they are not separated or isolated, which is a promising sign.

Question 10. What should be done to analyse people’s information from the Internet critically?

Answer – We need to make sure about the authenticity by referring the information to other trusted websites. Also, word of mouth helps us in analysing the information critically.

Question 11. What are the differences between getting information from a library and a newspaper?

Answer – Newspapers carry recent updates, which helps to keep us up to date on things happening around us, while the library gives us access to hands-on thousands of books in all genres. Using the library, one can gain sufficient knowledge about the topic in which they are interested.
