Sample 1 Describe an Activity You Did in A New Place: Recent Speaking Cue Card

I love to try something new, especially when we are on a trip. New things could be anything like new cuisine, activity or attire. I vividly remember we were on a trip to Dalhousie and Jhajjar last year. We spent the night at both places. Khajjiar is known as the mini Switzerland of India because of its beauty.

There were many activities available to do at that time. My friend Priya and I decided to try paragliding. It was a new experience for both of us. They used to charge 1200 rs per person. So we paid the money and went for it. They took us to the destination, from where we had to start climbing the mountain for it.

We began to climb. However, it was more difficult than we both imagined as we don’t exercise regularly. When we reached the middle of the mountain, we thought we should give up, but our instructor didn’t allow us to give up in the middle. Finally, we reached the top and were assigned a trained paraglider who would accompany us.

They used to provide gliders according to the weight of the individual. They gave us instructions, and then simultaneously, the paragliding journey started for my friend and me. I don’t have words to define the experience we had. It was worth having this experience. The view of the mountains was breathtaking. So the experience, which began as bitter initially, turned out to be the sweetest experience I ever had. I will surely do it again in the future, but first, I will make myself a little fit to easily climb a mountain.

When I was 15, I played basketball for the first time. I did this in a United Kingdom gym, which was simply mind-boggling.

I was with a bunch of schoolmates who taught me the rules and the strategies to win matches.

In the beginning, it was a hard nut to crack because I could not hold that heavy ball, but it became much easier when I got used to it.

Because it was the first time that I touched such a huge ball, and that was the first time that I heard about this sport, the fact that, after a few days, I started to win some matches prompted me to continue playing this sport even in my country.

Follow-Up Questions Describe an Activity You Did in A New Place

Question 1:- Is it good for people to change jobs when there are new chances?

Answer – I believe that workers should always try to change their working life to acquire new competencies and boost the skills they already have from previous experiences. In other terms, a more dynamic work activity means increasing abilities to earn more money.

Question 2:- Are outdoor activities better than indoor activities?

Answer – I don’t think so. External activities expose subjects to environmental factors. Thus, if a street worker has to labour on roads when temperatures are around 38° Celsius, this would be detrimental to his/her productivity and, especially, to his/her well-being. Obviously, such problems do not exist while working in a building.

Question 3:- What types of outdoor activities are popular in your country?

Answer – Festival events and on-road works. The first is really popular because every month, in Italy, a festivity is celebrated outside our homes. The second, instead, is negatively famous because many deaths are caused because workers have to undergo prohibitive temperatures while working.

Question 4:- Why do you think some people like doing new things?

Answer – Because I believe they are thrilled to try new experiences. And the more they experience, the more fun they will have.

Question 5:- Do you think that people who like to do adventurous activities are more likely to succeed?

Answer – Sure they will do. Those types of activities boost the adrenaline level, and this helps people to feel in the mood to be successful, and in the majority of cases, they will make it.

Question 6:- What problems can people have when they try new activities for the first time?

Answer – They can be stuck in the problems that new activities may create for beginners. Thus they will need more help to cope with these matters.

Question 7:- Do you think it’s best to do new things yourself or with others? Why?

Answer – Better alone because you don’t feel more stressed about social justice.

Question 8:- What kinds of things do children learn to do when they are very young? How important are these things?

Answer – They learn social skills, reasoning and the capability to speak. These are tremendously important capabilities for their future psychological development.

Question 9:- Do you think children and adults learn to do new things similarly? How is their learning style different?

Answer – Yes, they do. Adults are less impulsive than children because they reason a lot about the consequences of their actions, while children want to experiment with many things.
