Rain: IELTS Speaking Part 1 Latest Questions With Answers

Question 1:- Do you like rainy days?

Answer – I love rainy seasons, and it is my favourite of all the seasons. The weather when it is raining and after it stops raining has a cooling effect I enjoy. Rain falls anytime in my country, and sometimes it will not give prior notice before it starts to rain. The period of the year it rains in my country is between March and September, and we do have what we call August break because it mostly doesn’t rain in August. The time rain will fall is not predictable.

Question 2:- What do you do on rainy days?

Answer – Sometimes It rains while I am at work and other times while I am home and even when I’m on the road; in the last case, I take shelter anywhere I see to avoid getting drenched in the rain. When it starts raining while at work, I will continue working, but when it rains when I am home, I take a nap most of the time, and sometimes I watch movies while sipping hot tea.

Question 3:- Does it rain much in your country? (Where? When?)

Answer – Due to geographical locations, the amount and rate at which rain falls in different states in my country varies. The southern, eastern, and western states experience more rainfall compared to the northern states, which are mostly sunny all year round. Example of states that experience low amounts of rainfall includes Kwara, Kano, and Katsina states.

Question 4:- Does it rain much in your hometown? Can you remember any time when it rained particularly heavily? (When?)

Answer – I am lucky to be located where the rate at which rain falls is high, but that’s not my hometown. I am not sure how much and how heavy rain falls in my hometown, but it is located in the west, which means the amount of rainfall there will also be on the high side. I remember heavy rainfall in my location in the year 2017; the rain commenced at midnight and did not stop until around 9 am. A heavy downpour that day led to all the roads being flooded. I had to go to work while it rained that day. The outfit I wore got soaked despite using an umbrella. Most of my colleagues resumed work very late that day, and some couldn’t come to work at all.

Question 5:- Does rain ever affect transportation in your hometown? (How?)

Answer – Whenever it rains here, transportation costs increase and there is always traffic congestion along major routes. Sometimes, getting transport to your destination will be difficult when it rains. In the event of flooding when it rains, some private car owners park their cars to prevent their cars from getting damaged by the rainwater.
