Weather & Accommodation: IELTS Speaking Introduction Questions With Answers
Question 1:- Do you live in a house or a flat?
I live in a three-bedroom flat located within a 2-storey building at Abiola Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State. I only occupy a room in this flat; others are occupied by my neighbours, a male and a female. The flat has a sitting room, a kitchen and two toilets. One of the toilets is inside my room, while the other is in the sitting room. The flat’s walls are painted cream, and the ceiling is white. It has two doors: one at the front and one at the side.
Question 2:- Is it a big place?
The flat is a big one, in fact bigger than the other flats in the apartment, and it is the only flat with three bedrooms.
Question 3:- How long have you lived there?
Approximately, I have lived for two years in this house.
Question 4:- What do you like about living there?
I really enjoy this accommodation because of the comfort it provides, the serenity and security of the environment. There is a constant water and light supply. The location is also one of the reasons I enjoy my flat.
Question 5:- Is there a garden in the place you live in?
There is no cultivated garden around my house, but it is surrounded by big trees and wild flowers, which beautify the environment and also provide natural air. Someone can live in my room in the hot weather without a fan or air conditioner because of the trees near my window.
Question 6:- Do you prefer hot weather or cold?
I prefer cold weather to hot weather because I feel it is gentler on my skin. Secondly, it is easy to prevent by wearing thick clothes, unlike hot weather, where you have to go the extra mile before someone feels comfortable. Lastly, it causes less discomfort.
Question 7:- Tell me about the weather in your country at different times of the year?
My country has two primary weather conditions: hot and cold. During the rainy season, the weather is only slightly cold on rainy days but hot on all other days, and in the harmattan or dry season, the weather is freezing, and the air is dry. It is usually hot between February and June, slightly cold from July to September due to rain, slightly hot in October and November, and cold between December and January.
Question 8:- Which time of the year did you enjoy the most when you were a child?
When I was young, I enjoyed and still enjoy December and January because the weather is cold, which makes me more comfortable, and it is the holiday season. In addition, I love this period because it is a festive season, ranging from Christmas to the New Year. During this time, I get to see my cousins, uncles and aunties that I have seen for a very long time, and play with them.
Question 9:- Do you (usually) pay attention to the weather forecasts?
I am not always attentive to the weather forecast because sometimes it is misleading. At times, the forecast says there will be no rain, but it will be otherwise; therefore, I just prepare for the worst whenever I need to go outside. I plan my itinerary based on the time of year. For instance, during a rainy period, I always prepare for the possibility of rain.
Question 10:- Has the weather changed much in your country in recent years?
The weather has significantly changed in my country. Unlike before, when there was a stipulated time for rain, it can rain anytime of the year now. The weather is now hotter than before; some researchers even say the change is due to a depleted ozone layer.
