Road Accidents Are More Frequent These Days and Claim Many Lives Each Year

Road accidents are more frequent these days and claim many lives each year. As a result, some people suggest that drivers should take regular driving tests throughout their lives, rather than one single driving test, to improve the situation. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of repeat driving tests? Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Evidently, road accidents are soaring consistently and becoming the prime cause of deaths all the world over. In regards to this, several people suggest that license holders should undergo re-tests after a particular time period so that driving skills can be evaluated. Although it would sever some positive outcomes, downsides will definitely outweigh, in my opinion. Upcoming segments will shed light on the pros and cons of repeated driving tests and sum up with a conclusion.

To embark with, taking driving tests after a particular time period is beneficial both for drivers and authorities. From a driver’s point of view, they can get to know about their own skills and get fresh licenses that could represent good road skills. Furthermore, test-takers can also check the physical ailments, such as low vision and low hearing, as these capabilities are of paramount importance in driving. For example, senior citizens cannot drive due to a lack of optimum vision and hearing capacity, resulting in accidents. In these cases, re-testing is essential.

On the flip side, the disadvantage of recurring driving tests is many. Firstly, it is totally a waste of time and effort of both individuals and authorities. Re-tests definitely have some cost to pay by drivers and need to set aside a whole day from the hectic schedule. Secondly, test paths are customized ones, and anyone can practice that. However, driving on the road is totally different. An accident occurs suddenly, and no one can be trained for that well in advance. Therefore, a driving test on a repeat basis is of no use instead of a headache.

In conclusion, from the above discussion, it is clear that the drawbacks of testing are manifold in respect of benefits. In my perspective, working on this ideology is worthless instead, this money can be invested in making the road system more robust.
