Some people say that no one should work after the age of 65; others say that they should continue the work as long as they want. Discuss both views and give your opinion
It is argued that nobody should do a job after the age of 65, while others consider that they must be in service till they leave it willingly. In my perspective, oldsters must continue their work if they have the calibre and good aptitude.
At the outset, senior citizens should not do jobs after the age of 65 because they develop physiological as well as psychological problems. For instance, due to their age, they find it hard to cope with changing scenarios of the workforce, and they get depressed, and experience mental problems such as Alzheimer and their speed of doing any work get slow, so meeting the work deadlines pressurize them, and they develop an inferiority complex. So, to avoid all these complications, it is a must for them not to do a job after reaching a certain age. Besides, they have been working for many years, so it is time for them to rejuvenate as well as enjoy their life.
On the other hand, it is suggested that they should work as long as they want. It is because they have the calibre to do the work with the same energy as they used to do in the past. Besides, they are experienced in their respective fields. Therefore, this experience is beneficial to guide the youngsters, who join the company without prior experience. Thus aged people are the backbone of any company. To exemplify it, freshers in any firm have no in-depth knowledge and are without a long term vision. So, they need aged veteran employees who can guide them. Thus the presence of oldsters is of utmost need. What’s more, it would be an injustice to the aged population for not allowing them to do work. Otherwise, they will have to depend on the mercy of others for fulfilling their requirements. If they are employed, then they can bear their expenses, namely medical, travel expenditures.
In conclusion, a few consider aged population should not do work due to the problems that can arise when they are unable to bear pressure at work. While others consider that if they have the aptitude and strength to do work, then they must be retained at their position. I think they should continue to do their job in order to fulfil their basic needs and guide the young members of a company.
