Well, there are many traditions that are very popular in different communities. Moreover, customs are passed down from generation to generation. So people feel proud of their rich traditions. Here I would like to speak about a prevalent tradition, and it is related with elderly actually youngsters touch the feet of the elderly to take blessings.

There is no gender discrimination that only boys can touch the feet of mature people. In Hinduism, both boys and girls touch the feet of their oldsters, but in Sikhism, only males are allowed to touch the feet of aged people. So it’s a kind of respect for the elderly.

It makes them feel proud that they are reverend. If children touch the feet of their elderly, then they get physical relief as when they bend down to touch the feet of the older ones, their body stretch and make them easy and simultaneously it’s a kind gesture that youngsters show to older people and I feel very proud of this tradition.

It has maintained an outstanding reputation of aged people in society. Such kinds of traditions are precious because nowadays older adults are losing their respect. They are no more awarded. So this kind of tradition must be kept alive.
