The charts below show the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad between 1985 and 1995 and Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market

The bar graph and line graph show the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad between 1985 to 1995 and Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market. From 1985 to 1990 the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad to visit other countries steadily increased from 4 million to 13 million, which is a 325% increment within five years.

In 1991 the number slightly decreased from the previous year but started to rise again in the year after. Since 1992 the number of Japanese tourists going abroad has been increasing progressively and reached the maximum number in 1995, which is close to 13 million. Over five years, the number of Japanese tourists increased by more than threefold.

The second part is a line graph which shows the percentage of Japanese tourists who visit Australia from 1985 to 1995. We can seed three trends from the line graph. One is from 1985 to 1988, in this period the number of Japanese tourists in Australia increased each year by 100% from the baseline of 2%. However, the growth was not continued in 1989. In this year the percentage of Japanese tourists visiting Australia decreased by 100% as compared to the previous year.

In 1990 Japanese share of Australia’s tourist market showed improvement and started to increase each year until 1994 in which the maximum number of Japanese tourists visited Australia, and the number was slightly higher than 6 million. In 1995 the number decreased slightly as compared to the previous year, but it is the second-highest recorded figure.
