The Increase in Consumer Goods Production Harms the Natural Environment. What Are the Causes of This? What Can Be Done to Solve This Problem?
Sample Answer: The Increase in Consumer Goods Production Harms the Natural Environment
Nowadays, people are willing to buy fancy, well-packaged items, which may cause environmental pollution. We need to face the fact that we must protect the environment from the growing production of goods.
To begin with, marketing companies need to design goods in an appealing way to catch customers’ eyes at first glance. Therefore, they need more packaging materials to meet their demands. They will need to produce two or three times more wrapping paper to give the product value. For example, when I went to Japan last year, I bought a box of cookies with three layers of wrapping and an additional plastic wrap inside the box. It was too much waste and unnecessary packaging, despite the cookie box’s fancy appearance. The unnecessary overpacking of materials may lead to a shortage of wood for paper production and, in the long term, cause environmental problems.
We need to be aware of the ecosystem and protect our environment. What we can do in the first step is to be conscious of not wasting things and to avoid buying over-wrapped products. Secondly, we can educate children that the increasing productivity of consumer goods will lead to a damaging environment. Last but not least, the government can set policies to prevent companies with the potential to harm the environment and impose penalties.
To sum up, it is very important that we produce consumer goods without damaging the natural environment.
