In general, it can be seen that the duration of Facebook use among youngsters has decreased over time.
Turning to the specifications, the the average time the new generation spent on FacebookFacebook decreased from 25 minutes to 3 minutes between 2016 and 2020. Whereas during the same years, time spent on Twitter increased from 22 minutes to 45 minutes.
To be more specific, the average time spent on Snapchat increased from 12 minutes to 45 minutes by 2019, but decreased to 15 minutes in 2020. In addition, the time spent by youngsters on Instagram increased from 22 minutes in 2017 to 43 minutes in 2019, then decreased to 17 minutes in 2019. Surprisingly, the time spent on Instagram again increased to 38 minutes.

Overall, it is clear that Twitter and Snapchat experienced a consistent rise in usage, while Facebook saw a continuous decline. Meanwhile, Instagram remained popular throughout the period, though with slight fluctuations.
In 2016, youngsters spent around 25 minutes on Facebook, but this figure declined sharply year by year, reaching just 5 minutes in 2020, making it the least used platform by the end of the period. In contrast, Twitter usage grew steadily, rising from approximately 20 minutes in 2016 to 45 minutes in 2020, showing the strongest upward trend among the four platforms.
Instagram also remained a preferred platform throughout the period. Usage increased significantly from 22 minutes in 2016 to a peak of 42 minutes in 2017, before stabilising at around 35 to 38 minutes in the following years.
Snapchat, on the other hand, showed a sharp rise between 2016 and 2019. Starting at just 12 minutes in 2016, it climbed to 45 minutes in 2019, becoming the most-used platform that year. However, usage dropped noticeably to 15 minutes in 2020, marking the only significant decline in its trend.
In summary, while Twitter and Instagram became increasingly dominant, Facebook steadily lost popularity among Indian youngsters, and Snapchat showed mixed performance with both strong growth and a later decline.
