Explicitly, the United States won the highest number of medals at 121. On the other hand, Australia won a little more than a fifth of the United States tally at 29 medals. Although Great Britain placed 2nd, the total number of medals tally for China was three more than that of Britain. The European countries, namely Germany, Japan and France, were running close by in the medals tally at 42, 41 and 42 medals each, respectively.
