You Are Working for A Company: GT Writing Task 1

You are working for a company. You need to take some time off work and want to ask your manager about this. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:

  • Explain why you want to take time off work.
  • Give details of the amount of time you need.
  • Suggest how your work could be covered while you are away.

Dear Manager,

I am writing to request some time off from work for personal reasons. I have been experiencing some health issues that require me to take some time off to recuperate and recharge. I believe that taking some time off work will enable me to get the necessary rest I need and return to work fully focused and productive.

I would like to request a leave of absence for a period of three weeks, starting from 09-02-2023 to 23-03-2023. I understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and I apologize for any disruption this may cause to the team’s workflow.

While I am away, I suggest that my work be covered by [name of colleague/team member], who has expressed their willingness to assist in my absence. They have a good understanding of my current tasks and responsibilities and have agreed to provide support to the team during this period.

I have taken steps to ensure that there is a smooth transition in my work, and I have provided [name of colleague/team member] with detailed instructions on how to handle my tasks and responsibilities while I am away. Additionally, I will be available to offer guidance and support via email or phone should any issues arise that require my attention.

I understand the importance of maintaining the team’s productivity and ensuring that all deadlines are met. Therefore, I am committed to ensuring that my absence does not affect the team’s workflow or productivity.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration. I look forward to returning to work fully recharged and ready to continue contributing to the team’s success.

Sincerely,
