The line graph below illustrates the percentage of electricity generated from four sources (Coal, Natural Gas, Renewable Energy, and Nuclear Power) in the UK between 1995 and 2025 (projected data for 2020-2025). Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
General Writing Task 1
You are renting an apartment and recently you had a problem with the washing machine that came with the property. It has now broken down completely. Write a letter to your landlord. In your letter:
- Explain the problem with the washing machine and when it stopped working.
- Mention how this lack of a functional machine has affected your daily routine.
- Ask the landlord to fix or replace it immediately and suggest a suitable time for the repair person to visit.
General / Academic Writing Task 2
Some people believe that working remotely from home is better for the environment and significantly increases employees’ productivity. Others argue that it leads to poor communication and social isolation. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
