To begin with, the majority of water usage in San Diego and California is by the residential, measuring about two third of the total proportion and 39%, respectively. Next to this is the 23% and a third of the water used by industry in San Diego and California. Lastly, agriculture sees less than 20% use of water in San Diego and 28% in California.

However, moving on to the use of water worldwide. Residential use was the lowest, accounting for 8%, followed by 23% use in industry. At the same time, agriculture witnessed a four times higher percentage of water usage than in San Diego.
