Question 1:- Do you have a job right now?
Answer – yes, currently I’m working as a covid nurse at government medical college Ernakulam.
Question 2:- Do you enjoy your job?
Answer – oh yes, very much; nursing is a service-oriented job with a handful of opportunities. So a day of a nurse is encountered with plenty of worries and inquiries from the patients and bystanders. Satisfying the needs of the patients y rendering quality of care is the most interesting part of my job.
Question 3:- What responsibilities do you have at work?
Answer – well, A lot of responsibilities are there, right from checking the inventory to saving the lives of human beings. Nurses take part in rendering quality of care to the patient with doctors and assisting the patient in achieving their daily life routine,
Question 4:- What is your typical day like at work?
Answer – well, my typical day if I’m talking about my morning duty I have to reach the workplace at exactly seven because the duty time of my shift is started at 7.30 so reaching there early I got a perfect picture about the patients, understanding the pending works and moreover, I can send my colleague back to her home as early as possible because she was on her night duty. Then after receiving the handover, I start my duty by distributing the morning dose medicines with the nurse’s rounds and SO roaming around the ward with the medicine trolley to help to spot new patients and also make rapport with everyone. After the medicine distribution, the doctor’s rounds will be held, so I have to accompany the doctors and make necessary follow-up as some patients will discharge shifts or be transferred. I am then taking the census and writing the report. By the time all these things are done, it will be one clock, and my shift is over.
Question 5:- What would you change about your job?
Answer – Well, I would like to change the perception of the society that nurses are the assistance of the doctors actually nursing is an independent profession with all the nurses graduating by completing four years of course. People in society think that we can only know how to inject the people and why do they deserve a salary hike. So, by and large, this is it that I wanted to change.
Question 6:- What job do you think you will be doing in five years?
Answer – well, I will continue to pursue not only for the coming five years but also throughout my life. I only want to remain as a nurse because it is a service-oriented job and sometimes makes our day more precious and sweet when the patients recover from disease, and they bless you while they are discharging. I’ve encountered a lot of such incidents in my life so far. It’s really heart-touching moments, and sometimes we think these blessings might help us to lead a better life.
Question 7:- What skills and qualifications are required for this job?
Answer – well, the primary qualification to become a nurse is to complete the four years course from an accredited institution, and the relevant skills are the nurses need better communication skills, because we are treating random people with different backgrounds and also they are at their diseased condition the nurses should empathize the situations of each patient and should have good managerial skills and collocate with the doctor while proving the care.
