You are a student at an English language school in Brighton and are living in private accommodation with other flatmates. You have not had hot water or heating for some time. The landlord’s workmen have tried to fix the problem but without success. Write a letter to the landlord. In your letter,
- State your reason for writing
- Describe the problems and explain how you feel
- Propose a solution and risk the landlord to take action
Dear Mr Watson,
I am writing to you to express my resentment over the issue of lacking warm water in my flat, this issue has been tried to solve by your workmen; however all in vain.
Let me inform you that I have been living in a flat along with my two more friends. It has been almost one month since I familiarized you with the inadequate facility of getting hot water in the washroom. Now, when the winter season is on, we have to take bath in cold water. Moreover, one of my friends have fallen sick and he has to be hospitalized. In addition, many times I go to my workplace without taking a bath. Resultantly foul smell comes out of my body and I feel humiliated at my office.
Would you be kind enough to fix the problem as soon as possible? I appreciate that you tried to put it right, but your mechanics were inactive and novice in making things right. I would suggest you send professional workmen. If you do not provide us with this facility, we would have no other option except to leave your flat. We do not want to put our life at risk. I hope you would look into the matter and assist by considering your loyal tenants.
Yours Sincerely,
